That's a very recommendable novel for all those think that one complete stupidity, of principle to aim, cannot be a permanent international success.
Located in the France of century eighteen, the protagonist is Grenoville, orphan of disagreeable aspect and with a strength almost magician before the disease, that has the characteristic of not dismissing no scent and at the same time to have a species of being able olfactory. In an occasion, attracted by the scent of a girl, he persecutes them, the bush and one recreates in the scent of all his body. After working like tanner apprentice, she has opportunity to know a Parisian perfumer of prestige already but in declivity, to which he demonstrates the capacity of his olfactory superpower (and its capacity for the mixture and the reproduction of scents, that, apparently, there are to consider that goes united to the super nose) and it stays oneself as creative in fact motor apprentice and of the house. Years later, the perfumer gives via free Grenoville and this one, fleeing from the saturation of scents that feels in the great city, is lost in the field and lives seven years in a grotto on the mountain, given to fantasies.
One peculiar Marquis of the nature and the human phenomena rescues to him for the society and gives him the opportunity to to create his own perfumes, that are enough successful. But the twisted nature of Grenoville leads to look for perfumes to him that reflect the complete identity of the alive beings and, after trying with animals, begins to assassinate youngsters and to cut their hairs and to take them aromatic essence in a cloth prepared by him, until it becomes the terror of the region. After twenty-five murders, Grenoville is discovered, stopped and condemned to die in horrible torment. But the day of the execution, when appearing in patíbulo, people seem to become crazy, watch Grenoville and he is astonished of his affection, those that formed the tumult that was going to see him die takes off the clothes and co polishes with first which they pillar alongside, and the father of the last victim of the assassin embraces him and he takes him to his house to turn to him adoptive son. The secret of that return of situation is in simple drops of the perfume that the sinister super nose has elaborated and that seems to have the faculty to hypnotize to those of his around and to cause that they see him like a God. Fled from the region and return to Paris, Grenoville proves his hypnotic perfume before a crowd of vagabonds and assassins who, driven crazy, send themselves towards him and carve up him.
