In Emile Zola 's novel, the sap of revolt will culminate to blind violence of the minors starved in the mines of Montsou, in the north of France; Etienne Lantier a socialist to the core arrives one evening in Montsou and is hired as a herschor, to pull tip trucks with the help of Maheu that goes friendly with him. He will come across Souvarine an anarchist, who will make him to share his violent convictions. Etienne discovers the hell of the life in mines; the misery that makes women to give themselves out to Maigrat the grocer for a little food .He will become the ringleader for the strike action and will fall in love with Catherine the daughter of Maheu. Emile Zola is a naturalist that depicts the society of his time as it is. With Germinal he depicts antiheroes, bosses interested in productivism, with no care of people's state of mind, and the minors with their dignity, and their lowness. Grain grow to give wheat, the wrath of the minors has in it the leaven of a wider struggle that will bring out a better world in the mind of Souvarine and Lantier :In this sad and black novel, there is a message of hope, the poverty and the terrible difficulties of survival of the minors' families, where children are to start work early, sides the hopes of a rising socialism, the dreams of people that expect that all good will come one day
