Wicca For The Solitary Practioner
(Scott Cunningham)

Publicidade
Wicca For The Solitary Practioner is an informative guide for anyone wanting to learn more about or possibly join Wicca. It emphasizes that the basis for all sects of Wicca is honoring their deities, honoring all life on Earth, honoring the Earth itself and trying not to cause any harm. It teaches simple rituals for making these beliefs a part of your daily life, teaches simple methods for celebrating the major Wiccan holidays, and includes ample prayers and chants to inspire spirituality in your daily life as well as inspiriation for writing your own prayers, chants and rituals.
The student must first learn that Wicca, also known as Witchcraft, does not mean devil worship. Wiccans do not believe in the devil. They believe in the God and Goddess, similar in nature to the Christian God and Holy Spirit respectively. They are taught that magic is merely focused prayer, that meditation and daily prayer strengthen spirituality, and that all life is sacred because it was created by the God and Goddess.
The student is giving training exercises to increase visualization and meditation abilities, taught how to dedicate themelf to the God and Goddess if they decide Wicca is right for them, and given simple, sample rituals to help celebrate the eight Sabbats, or holidays, of the Wiccan year. The Sabbats start in February around the time of the lengthening of the days and continue through December, around the time the days shorten again. The lengthening and shortening of the days are attributed to the life cycle of the God, birth, death, and rebirth. They continue through the warm months in a celebration of his union with the Goddess, who is portrayed both as his mother and his consort and finish with his death and the time of awaiting his rebirth or reincarnation.
This book is short, simple and informative, a must-read whether you are a student of alternative religions or simple interested in debunking the myths surrounding Witchcraft.
