This Book: HIMALAYA is wonderfully evocative of the journeys into the outer edges of the world undertaken by Michael Palin.
I particularly liked the photography and observed too the Muslims at Prayer:

Its a long way from England to Tipperary and its true to in respect of the journey out from
London to Pakistan:
Michael Palin takes us, and his camera crew, fleet of foot over these dangerous areas, where
life is lived out in Purdah! and all women still wear the veil. He makes observations on the education of women and men in this Islamic tradition: of course its a wonderful feeling to drive the whole way along and I liked the photographs of Michael Palin feeding the animals - very British that photograph!
The Dalai Lama's bungalow is specious and is referred as /fairly plain/ A long line of visitors come to see him Monks come and go : including those of the Indian Catholic persuasion and also the TIbetan monks are present too! Again the journey out to Kathmandu is central to this book:
Prayer flats flutter from the huge stupa of Boudhanath, a very important Buddhist site in Katmandu and is centrally placed in the beliefs of the Tibetan communities:
In the Himilayan foothills women are there in great prominence they echo the rural life of their ancient traditions:
The diverse nature of this writings create a wealth of small observances and are best kept a secret to allow you the readership to discover with Michael Palin the wonderful nature of this exciting journey and journal from London to Lahore and onto the HIMALAYA! Very exciting stuff! I enjoyed read this book:
