The Road Less Traveled And Beyond: Spiritual Growth In An Age Of Anxiety
(M.Scott Peck, M.D.)

Publicidade
M.Scott Peck is not unfamiliar to the popular psychology book readers. He has written scores of other books, the most famous of them being The Road Less Travelled and People of the Lie. Perhaps the present book is a continuation of The Road Less Travelled, and the author refers to this work and his other works all through the work. After reading, one realises that one cannot get the full grasp of the book without having read the author's other books. The book is a mixure or psychology, philosophy and religion. This book may be a culmination of a lifetime of counselling, lecturing and writing and the conclusion of "Road" triology. The book is rich with spiritual and psychological wisdom.

In this work the reader is led to a deeper awareness of how to live rich, fulfilling lives in a world fraught with stress and anxiety. The author speaks convincingly about decision making and the choices we make every day in business and at home, and the ethical choices that may affect the very survival of humankind. We learn the difference between good and evil, to overcome narcissm, to love and be loved, to live with paradox, to accept the consequences of our actions all through life, and to come to terms with dying and death. The book concludes with a long lyric poem, "The "Poetry" of God", in which he surfaces the complexities of life and living he has tried and yet to succeed.

What one likes about the book is the way the author bases his refelections on spiritual and clinical experiences. The book is a gift to everyone who lives in the modern "traumatised" world.
