The core mission of any Leader is to convert potential into results. It is imperative for a leader to choose the leader ship Style that makes great sense in today?s brutally competitive business and contribute to the prosperity of the organisation by synchronizing the Leadership style with the changing business environment.
Once Martin Luther King Jr. said that ?the ultimate measure of a leader is not where he stands in moment of comfort and convenience, but where he stands at times of challenge and controversy?. Successful leadership is concerned with vision. Strategy communication, buy-in, motivation and empowerment. Leaders are not born, though some may be more naturally inclined to and may have an intuitive leadership style. There are myriad numbers and types of leadership styles in organizations today that are required for diverse situations. Comprehending the types of leadership styles is an essential first step in leadership development, which will help one to decide the leadership style that would work best for oneself and the organisation. Basically there are three classic leadership styles ?Laissez Faire style in which one has highly skilled and highly motivated people and direct reporting is done. Secondly the Autocratic Style in which the leader is one who demands instant conformity to his words. Lastly, the participative style which provides a contented stage between micromanaging and disengaging and more likely to be seen in organizations that innovate to prosper.
In nutshell, what matters is, to identify how to achieve the teams? loyalty in a manner such that is consistent with one?s own leadership style. Successful leaders who candidly assess their leadership style and efficiently discover themselves to investigate and motivated the people towards the achievement .In light of this ,it is relevant here to quote Peter F.Drucker?s say ?Management is doing things right: Leadership is doing the right things?.
