Annie Lennox was born on the 25th of December 1954 in Aberdeen, Scotland. A music lover since early childhood, she sang in the Church choir and studied flute and piano in the Royal Academy of Music. As an adolescent, she sang in the folk group Longdancer. In 1977 Annie Lennox met David Stewart, who would be her partner both artistically and emotionally. Together they formed the duet Eurythmics, whose name comes from a style of dance. They recorded various CDs, the most famous being Sweet Dreams which sold more than six million copies in 1983. They conquered the market in the United States with hits such as Sweet Dreams, Who's That Girl, Love is a Stranger, Right by Your Side, and Here Comes the Rain Again. After various arguments and in view of both their wishes to persue a solo career, they separated in the late 80s. Lennox released her first solo single in 1992, named Why. This single formed part of Diva, her debut album, which also included the singles Cold and Walking on Broken Glass. Annie Lennox won a Grammy award for the Diva video. In 1992 she recorded Unplugged for the chain MTV and the single Why accompanied compiled acoustics that the radio station released a year later. Three years later Annie Lennox recorded her second album, titled Medusa. Eurythmics got back together in 1999 to release the album Temperamental. In 2003 Annie Lennox released her third solo album, titled Bare.
