The book was first published on 4th July 1865.The real name of Lewis Carroll was Charles Lutwidge Dogdson. He studied mathematics and wrote many books on the subject. ?Alice in Wonderland? is a story which he told on a boat ride to Alice and her sisters. Alice was his friend?s sister. This was exactly three years earlier on 4th July 1862. The simple and beautiful story full of adventure is worth reading. Children enjoy it very much. This is the most widely read book after the Bible and the works of Shakespeare. This book has been translated into about 125 languages and is very popular all over the world. The starting of the tale where Alice spots a rabbit going hurriedly and taking a look at the watch is enough to make you want to know more. Through out the story the interest is developed and kept alive. A must read.
