Clarissa
(Érico Veríssimo)

Publicidade
Clarissa is a 13-years-old girl that lives in her aunt's pension while studies in Porto Alegre. She's a curious youth, discovering the world, the adolescence and the life. She doesn't like school very much, misses the farm in her home town, Jacarecanga, and observes the people that live in the aunt's pension and in the neighborhood: Ondina, Barata's infidel wife; Amaro, the sad and thoughtful musician; the distracted major; the conservative aunt and her unemployed husband; the rich family that lives beside and the widow with her mutilated son. This, Tonico, lost both legs in a bond accident and dreams in marching with armies. Fragile, he dies. About Amaro, this always comtemplates Clarissa, her youth, her inocence, her beauty surfacing of the girl that goes turning woman. Clarissa does 14 years (and gets permission to use high shoe heel) and ends the school. The book ends with Clarissa going back to Jacarecang (to meet cousin Vasco) while Amaro stays sad in the pension, thinking about her. Erico Verissimo's first romance, Clarissa presents a panorama of a teenager girl's life in the 1932 Porto Alegre, and starts the history that will extend along his romances of first time.
