Reminiscences Of Swami Vivekananda
(By his Eastern and Western Admirers)
What do you call a book that offers a compilation of the fond and sacred memories associated with the Grand Master from India , Swami Vivekananda? Thirty- five from among his disciples and admirers have written their reminiscences of this 20th century Guru. These blessed people have narrated many incidents from their interaction with him . For many of them who walked and talked with this great teacher, it was a time of total transformation, of Enlightenment.
For people who know little or nothing of this Spiritual leader from India, "Reminiscences of Swami Vivekananda" will give a lot of insight about the Guru's life work --how this poor unknown Indian monk became a sensation overnight after his powerful address at the ' Parliament of Religions' at Chicago-- how he held the elite gathering of the high priests of all the world religions spellbound with his immortal opening words,"Sisters and brothers of America"--how he exhorted his followers to be fearless and have an attitude of service to humanity--how he spread awareness of the essence of Hindu teachings and the oneness of all religious teachings--and so on.
His life and teachings have inspired me to write the following poem:
" The churning of the mind
And burning of the heart
Can be quietened
Only by learning of the Spirit."
