As his faith in the party begins to waver he meets a young woman who shares this disillusionment. Soon Winston is drawn into a web of conspiracy and fear. This novel is a stark social commentary on the future of democratic countries as Geroge saw it, and even though it was written fifty-eight years ago, it still addresses many issues that are relavent even in this day and age. Things like classism, poverty, and toture all recive a nod from the author. The novel is a great read and it will change the way you look at the society around you.
