The security history of the internet is plagued with viruses, which are creations with an extensive history of a constant and quite dramatic arms race. A plethora of negative magazine articles and books have catalysed a new kind of fear among computer users:- an unreasonable fear of Computer Viruses. Security comes at its own cost. With considerable risks involved, there is a powerful incentive to develop cunning deployment mechanisms for getting destructive code into computer system. Computer Virus is the vehicle of choice for deploying destructive code. ?Internet is a scary place and it continues to become scarier? thereby increasing the cost of security violations on the internet. Still more disturbing is the fact, that new strains of viruses give very little time for an eligible victim to upgrade his defenses against the attack. Disasters come in different sizes, computer viruses have been a constant threat to internet users, with the probability of computer outbreaks on constant increase. To control the spread of malwares and viruses, it is important to understand the physiology of viral and worm programs, which provide a starting point and a framework for developing techniques for static analysis of viral programs. With information security becoming a more widely accessible education topic, understanding of computer viruses would emerge as a powerful step in hardening network and system security by providing an indepth view of problem analysis, identification and trigger cost effective and innovative ways to improve system security from computer viruses.
