Get to Melbourne jetlagged and tired
Didn’t sleep at all on the flight
Three little hours that I’ll never get back there’s a life I left behind
First thing I do is buy some papers for a smoke,
thought it would sound good in a song
Next thing I do is look up at tall buildings, what’s this city hold for me?
So wont you hear me play music
Wont you let me sing my songs tonight
Cause there’s a few things I’ve given up just to get here
There’s a few things I’ll never set right
Sometimes I think where will I be in five years?
Will I be older but things still the same
Or will I be doing what I’ve dreamt of since twelve
Coz writing songs is my game
And I pray that’s what I play music and the cruel things said ain’t right
Cause something can grow so shallow and selfish
If it only lives under stage lights
