You used to hold my hand and I knew you needed me
How many times did I carry you to bed while you pretended sleep?
You brought the laughter to my smile; The twinkle to my eye.
You brought the bounce to a weary step and joy to your Daddy’s life.
Yet somehow time has come and gone and at least from where I stand
The little boy I used to know has now become a man!
And in my heart I’ll always have that little boy reaching for me

Precious memories that help the boy become the man!

And in my heart I hear the passion of a man’s heart take their place
So with all I know and all I am I know my boy is now a man!

I helped you bait your hook; We would wrestle on the floor
I used to win all the basketball games; I don’t win much anymore
You always trusted me; I could see it in your eye
Jumping from heights to my outstretched arms,

Trust me, son, it’s plain to see it’s time to fly again
I’ll meet you in that special place where boy becomes the man!
