Our spring arrives
And with it the rain
Cleansing and awakening
All that surrounds
The quaint little pond
Imbibing the showers
Ceases stagnation
And starts to swell
The water shimmers in the sunlight
Crystal clear, it seems
Healthy and pure
But it's depths can be deceiving
Obscuring from view
That all is not well
There is something beneath the surface
There is something amiss
She's fading
But I still feel her kiss
Winter ensues
And brings the cold
The pond has frozen
Now all has changed
It's surroundings are forced to withdraw
Kept at bay by a crystalline sheath
It's depths are shrouded more than ever
Mystifying all within their realm
All that was clear is now uncertain
One cannot know what lies beneath
There is something beneath the surface
There is something amiss
She's fading
But I still feel her kiss
Her mother tells her
That nobody has to know
Her mother tells her
That it's best not to let it show
They live in fear and isolation
And there is no one to whom to turn
