Eldest
(Christopher Paolini)

Publicidade
The second book in the Inheritance series is "Eldest". Christopher Paolini wrote both books before he turned 20. Thick and packed with details, adventure and characters a much more mature writer would have trouble creating, this series is a fun and entertaining read.Eldest picks up where "Eragon" leaves off. Eragon has traveled across the land of Alagaesia to escape Galbatorix's reach. The dreaded Ra'zac close in and reek havoc in their wake. A mysterious swordsman, Murtagh, helps them out and traveled with Eragon, Brom and the dragon Saphira. Brom's death hit Eragon hard and he and Murtagh have an uneasy friendship. Eragon is captured at one point and he meets the mysterious elf who has been in his dreams who is also a captive. Murtagh and Saphira free them both. The four travel to the Varden, a hidden rebel faction in the Boer Mountains where they battle Urgals, a huge beast like creature. The king of the Varden and his daughter, who are in alliance with the dwarves, are thrilled to find a dragon and rider to help their cause. Eragon is sent to Ellesmera, the elves stronghold to learn about being a dragon rider. There he and Saphira meet another dragon rider and dragon and learn what they need to know. The war is heating up and soon Eragon and Saphira feel they must return to help. There is another story going on with Roran, Eragon's cousin. Roran returned to find his father dead and his cousin Eragon missing. The village of Carvahall is besieged from the Ra'zac who are looking for Eragon. Roran becomes the leader and he leads the village away to safey. They end up on quite an adventure of their own, riding a barge down the coast. They find themselves helping in the war against Galbatorix and soon the cousins come face to face. For a second book, "Eldest" surpasses the first book. It is a better woven story and the details are enmeshed with the story line. Emotional and very human give-and-take make this a mature story, from a mature storyteller. From reading the story you would never believe the age of the author. The long list of characters involved and the intricasy of the plot will keep you glued to your chair. Now that Eragon is going to be a movie and a game, you will be hearing more about this great fantasy world
