Paula
(Isabel Allende)
Paula is a book that will make you cry. Isabel Allende narrates with a good, continuous style in which she takes herself, the convalescence of her comatose daughter, and her maternal suffering mixed with flashbacks of her personal life. This gives a well deserved rest to the number of tears that one will for sure shed. Some think that so much sadness becomes effective, but it is precisely that effective sincerity that gives this book a touch of reality. I am sure that Isabel Allende did not feel that her words were particularly clear while she pour out her feelings in this book.
