Rose Madder by Stephen King just goes to show you some women are not going to be mistreated by their husbands anymore. Her husband has abused Rose for fourteen years; she finally escapes her husband, Police detective Norman Daniels and starts a new life hundreds of miles away. In her new apartment, the previous tenant leaves an old oil painting with supernatural powers, of a Greek mythological scene that seems very interesting to Rose. Rose realizes she is able to enter the painting and have a little Greek adventure. When she emerges from the painting, she notices she has more self-confidence and just plain feels better. When she enters the painting one final time and finishes her adventure, she is no longer the frightened, mousy, housewife she once was, she decides to wreck a little havoc with her abusive husband?s life.
